On September 20th, 2008 South Haven held it's first 3rd degree in several years.
We raised two brothers, and had key help from Fennville and Coloma lodges. I was SD for the first section, and I thought I did a creditable job. We all did well, with several practices under our belts.
The allegory, however, was "rough". We had plenty of experienced people, but we were expecting brothers from nearby lodges, most of whom simply did not show up. There was one brother who had mandatory overtime, but I think the rest just weren't interested, or forgot. One brother was slated for KoT, but was wanted to be SD so much that I yielded my seat for him.
Did we put them off somehow? I don't know. Maybe we need to reach out to these lodges more often.
Whatever it was, we at least raised two brothers in our lodge, and I know I gave them the best degree I could muster.
