On December 16th, 2008 I was installed as Junior Warden, the Pillar of Beauty.
Resolutions:
1. Find out who these guys are on our lodge rolls who never come to lodge.
2. Visit other lodges, network and build better relationships
My wife is NOT required to cook for the lodge -- I am.
My year as WM is coming up on me rapidly, and frankly I feel completely unprepared.

All Degree Day in GR
November 1.
Doric #34, along with the Valley of Grand Rapids, put together an all-degree day. I was one of four stewards in the 3rd degree. You heard me: 4 Stewards. It was fantastic, and in my opinion, looked great.
No one does the FC Lecture From Hell better than Doric, although there were a few rough spots in the delivery this time.
Whatever you think of the all-degree concept, and raising en-mass, it's always fun to watch all three degrees performed well one after the other.
Oh, I bought a tux.

South Haven 3rd degree
On September 20th, 2008 South Haven held it's first 3rd degree in several years.
We raised two brothers, and had key help from Fennville and Coloma lodges. I was SD for the first section, and I thought I did a creditable job. We all did well, with several practices under our belts.
The allegory, however, was "rough". We had plenty of experienced people, but we were expecting brothers from nearby lodges, most of whom simply did not show up. There was one brother who had mandatory overtime, but I think the rest just weren't interested, or forgot. One brother was slated for KoT, but was wanted to be SD so much that I yielded my seat for him.
Did we put them off somehow? I don't know. Maybe we need to reach out to these lodges more often.
Whatever it was, we at least raised two brothers in our lodge, and I know I gave them the best degree I could muster.

Th 24 Inch gauge
This was once used to measure one's work, but now is used to measure one's time, where one inch corresponds to one hour. We are admonished to divide our time into three equal parts, 8 hours to serve God and a worthy distressed brother, 8 hours for work, and 8 hours for rest and refreshment. In the past one could reshape ones work or discard it if an error was made, but once time is misused, it can never be recovered. This tool teaches us there is a time for everything (as in Ecclesiastes 3), and that there is no time to waste.
